At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate a reported shooting on Shelton Court near Strauss Avenue.
There was a heavy police presence in the area of Laurel Drive at Route 210, officials said, noting that the scene was contained.
Residents and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
The incident led to police shutting down both northbound lanes of Indian Head Highway in the area. Ironsides Road (Route 425) was also shut down between Friendship Landing Road and Durham Church Road, according to the sheriff's office at 4:10 p.m. on Monday.
